FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT MEMBERSHIP FORM

Essential Information

Telephone: Be sure to include area code. If outside the United States and Canada, please include country code. It would also be helpful to indicate if a telephone number is home or work, or is a fax number.

Email address: Be sure to include this if you have one.

Mentor / recruiter: It is entirely up to you, as a new Gold Party member, which person you choose to name as your primary mentor or recruiter; and which person you designate in a secondary capacity. The significance is that you will give that person, if he or she is a Gold Party member, additional points. You don’t have to name anyone to be in those roles. You can also name the same person as both your primary and secondary mentor/ recruiter; but in that case, the person would receive only .4 times your membership points rather than .5 (which is .3 for the first and .2 for the second.) It’s up to you to choose which party “friends” will get an extra boost, point wise, from your membership.

Normally, if someone told you about Gold Party for the first time, brought you to your first meeting, or persuaded you to join, that person would be designated as your primary recruiter. Each year, however, you can change your beneficiary. The idea is not only to motivate members to recruit other members but to build personal relationships within the party. Just think of who has done the most (or second most) to integrate you comfortably within Gold Party and reward that person. Remember, politics is personal. Cultivate personal ties.

Party ID#: If you know the beneficiary’s party identification number, it would help with the processing. Otherwise, this field can be left blank.

Registered voter: A Gold Party member who is not a registered voter in the United States can still participate in the party and can vote but this person receives only half the number of points that would otherwise be received.

Date Applied: This is the date when you filled out and signed the form.

Dues paid: This is the amount of money in U.S. dollars sent with the application form as annual dues for Gold Party membership. You choose how much money to contribute to the party which, in turn, will recognize your greater commitment in greater voting strength based on points.

Signature: Application forms, to be processed, must be signed.

This application is valid with dues payment of any amount but only memberships with dues of $2.00 or more will be acknowledged by return mail.

Persons living outside the United States can also be Gold Party members. It is expected that largely autonomous party organizations will be formed in their country of residence. This website will assist in creating and distributing lists.

 

Optional information

Personal information: If you do not wish to disclose your age, sex, race/ ethnicity, or occupation, please leave these fields blank. Party membership will not be affected by such personal characteristics, but the information may be useful in shaping the party organization and its activities.

Party affiliation: Gold Party is not an exclusive political organization. Members can continue to belong to other parties if they wish. The purpose of Gold Party is to mobilize the electorate at a grassroots level so that ordinary citizens again matter to the political process. While Gold Party eventually will endorse candidates for public office, the initial goal is to build up the organization to a point that it will be an effective political force. It will work within or outside existing party structures in an expeditious manner to seek the desired changes in government and in society.

Interest in Gold Party: If you have certain positive expectations about the party, knowing this may help us deliver what you seek.

Special talents: Gold Party must advance itself through communication. It needs to build audiences that derive a positive personal experience from party-sponsored activities and events. Artists, musicians, writers, and speakers can create such experiences. They would play a key role in building the party. If you have creative talents, they are sorely needed. Please don’t be modest.

Party activity: This is a standard question eliciting your area of interest. Once Gold Party is established, we will try to fit members into activities that they might wish to pursue. You can be a policy wonk, if you wish; or a nuts-and-bolts organizer; or a creator of new types of communication; or a fashion plate who inspires others. Exercise your creativity in the company of persons who appreciate what you are doing.

Organize local groups: The Internet is wonderful, but there is no substitute for face-to-face contact if we are to have a real organization. If none exists in your area, help create one. You can provide a real service by letting us know if you might be willing to help found a local Gold Party group that holds meetings. Getting people together for the first time and then coming up with a plan to keep them together is the trick. Someone needs to take the initiative to do this. Can it be you?
